Normandale Phi Theta Kappa Chapter receives national honors

Normandale Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) National Honors Society chapter recently received national honors at the annual PTK Catalyst (2024) Conference in Orlando, Fla. April 4-6.

The chapter was named a Top 100 chapter out of over 1,300 national and international chapters. It also received awards for having a Top 50 College Project, Top 50 Honors in Action, and a Beta Alpha Continued Excellent honor for three or more years of being a top distinguished chapter.

Individually, Elizlam Mary Sesay came in second for running for vice president of Division III, which represents 308 chapters, 12 states and eight regional organizations. Normandale PTK Advisor Renee Cortez won a Paragon New Advisor Award.

In March, Normandale’s PTK Chapter was named Most Distinguished Chapter, Most Distinguished Honors in Action, Most Distinguished College Project, Most Distinguished Honors in Action Theme 2: Economics of Play, and received Five Star Chapter Award honors. Individually Mohamed Ali was named Most Distinguished Chapter Member and Kyle Hines was second runner-up for Most Distinguished Office. Cortez also won a regional Paragon New Advisor Award.
